The Journey Inward

Seeking God to come into your life and bring transformation to your whole being

1 Corinthians 3:10-18 (ESV)

The Temple

10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder, I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13 each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. 18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.

Going Inward

The Temple Cleanse journey is more than a diet change – it is a lifestyle change. Doing this time of fasting, we encourage you to find areas of your life to step away from. This can be a bad habit, an unhealthy way of living, or an area of your life that needs God’s focus and attention in order to correct.

This is more than just food as that sacrifice is already a part of the Temple Cleanse. It can be an area of your life that you need to repent for. No matter what you choose, this is the area that we are seeking and praying for God to transform into something for God’s Kingdom.

Omnipotent and most Holy God,

You are the giver of life and grace. Without You nothing is possible and with You all things are possible. You taught the sun to rise, the stars to shine, and the birds to fly. You are magnificent and Holy is Your name. There is none comparable to You and none who loves me the way You do. Glory to Your name my King.

I pray Your will be done during this first week of consecration in a powerful and transformative way. Help me to push away from little so that I can receive much. Help me during this time to push away from food, entertaining distractions, and wasteful interactions so that I can hear Your voice, see Your will for my life, and pursue Your presence. Give me the strength to remain obedient and the passion to spend time with You. Help me to seek peace and joy within my soul instead of in worldly possessions and outward decorations.  I invite You to lay a foundation for transformation.

I invite the precious Holy Spirit into my life to lead and guide me. You are welcome in my life. Help me to make our relationship a top priority.

Forgive me Lord for the things I have done that have been destructive to Your temple. I repent for exposing my body to thoughts and things that are harmful and not a part of Your will. I ask for Your help and strengthening as I turn away from ____________________. (List areas of repentance and sacrifices being made in order to fast.)

I pray for Your power to break every yoke and chain of bondage in my life. May my areas of shame, disappointment, and failure give you the Glory! I completely avail all that I am to You on this day. All glory and praise to You my God and King.

In Jesus Christ’s name I pray, AMEN
